As the nation prepares to celebrate its Independence, the city of Mesa is gearing up for ‘The Arizona Celebration of Freedom’—a day the city has set aside to celebrate, have fun, and eat plenty of food.
This year’s celebration will feature music, reenactments, performances and plenty of attractionss designed to keep the little ones interested.
Most of the action will center on three stages: Stage America, Stars Stage, and Stripes Stage. Each will feature musical performances such as Desert Dixie Western Fusion and B-Platinum. Around the area, reenactments of important Revolutionary War events will be staged by various groups. Meanwhile, special zones will be set up that feature various activities, like Yankee Doodle Kids Zone, Celebration Splash Zone, the Patriotic Military Showcase, and the Fallen Solider Memorial.
The day will finish with fireworks overhead and all of it should provide a perfect opportunity for lots of pictures taking, the results of which might just make for some fine postcard printing later on.
The event is meant to be celebrated by friends and family, and those who expect to attend should plan accordingly. Food and beverages will be on sale, though coolers are allowed. It will take place at Mesa Amphitheatre/Mesa Convention Center complex at 263 N. Center Street, Mesa, and will run from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm on July 4. Volunteers are still needed.
