Soon, the East Valley Children’s Theater will be putting on a production of the play, ‘Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus’.
The company will give the presentation several times over a two-week span to give everyone in Mesa an opportunity to enjoy the show.
The play, which is based on real events, has two components. The first is about a little girl who is going through some challenging times back in 1897 in New York City. As Christmas nears, she begins to wonder if Santa is real. In the other component, the editor of a newspaper is facing his own struggles trying to find a way to bring the spirit of Christmas into the holiday season. As the story unfolds, the little girl writes a letter to the paper asking for the truth. This in turn inspires the editor to pen an open letter to her in the paper.
The letter catches the imagination of the public, and soon thereafter the story was made into a play and a movie. Those who wish to attend the show may want to bring plenty of tissue and a camera to catch the response of their own children for possible use in making Holiday Cards.
The show will be given at the Mesa Art Center, 1 E Main St, Mesa, on December 3 through 6 at various times, and then again from December 10 through 13. Ticket prices will vary by seating.Get a Free Quote for Holiday Cards
