The Australian Pink Floyd Show, a Pink Floyd tribute band, will be bringing its show, appropriately titled to the United States and Canada during the next couple of months.
The group has been performing Pink Floyd songs for over 25 years, and will be offering its music to Mesa fans in just a couple of weeks as one stop in a tour called ‘Set the Controls’.
Some of the highlights of the evening will be the band’s rendition of ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ from Floyd’s rock opera ‘The Wall’, as well as ‘Wish You Were Here’, the title song from the progressive rock band’s ninth studio album. Smoke, a light show, lasers, and inflatable large pink kangaroos will add to the evening’s ambiance. Floyd fans can go to the Aussie Pink Floyd website and vote for the songs they want to hear in the performance.
Award-winning Colin Norfield, the original sound engineer for the original Pink Floyd band, works with the band to reproduce the Pink Floyd sound. Colin Wilson sings vocals, plays bass, and uses his background in graphic design to work with printing companies in creating artwork for the band. Original backing vocalist, Lorelei McBroom will bring another element to the group’s sound.
The concert will be held September 25 at Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St. Mesa, starting at 7:30pm.
