Annual auction remains on Mesa schedule

Although the Old West Show for 2021 has been cancelled, the 31st Annual Mesa Old West Auction will still take place at the end of January.

Items up for bid will come from Buzz Nyhart’s Montana Territory collection of firearms and artifacts, Roger Wilmot’s collection of spurs and paraphernalia from the past 50 years, and an eclectic hodgepodge of Hollywood cowboy fire arms, costumes, and personal items including some John Wayne memorabilia. Other items will be Native American and cowboy decorative art from the estate of David Little.

Some items will be spurs by Kelly Brothers, Baldwin, H.P. Pollard, and Jeremiah Watt; guns used by Steve McQueen, Marlon Brando, Rickard Boone, and Paladin; an oil painting by Edgar Payne; and Filigreed belt buckle by Edward H. Bohlin. Other items include lithographs by Frank Frayne and a pin-and-ink by Edward Borein.

Catalogs may be purchased online for $30. They will be mailed about three weeks before the auction.

The auction preview and the auction itself will take place at the Delta Phoenix Marriot Mesa, 200 N. Centennial Way. The preview will be Friday, January 22 from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and the auction will be Saturday starting at 9:00 am.

Seating will be limited for both the preview and the auction, but phone, absentee, and internet arrangements can be made.
