Entrepreneurs who hope to start or grow a minority-owned or small business have the opportunity to learn about the process this month.
The Maricopa Small Business Development Center, in conjunction with the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, is offering a free workshop on these business opportunities.
For people who are just starting out in business, the workshop offers access to valuable information on vital topics, some of which might be hard to find for a newcomer to the way business operates. Subjects on the agenda include an overview of the city, the Chamber of Commerce and other local resources for businesspeople, why Chandler is a good place to do business, and social media and marketing. A representative from the U.S. Small Business Administration will make a presentation as well.
In the afternoon, the workshop will focus on finance, with presentations by venture capitalists and bankers from such companies as Chase and Wells Fargo. There is also a talk scheduled about crowdfunding.
The workshop is free, but registration is required, and must be completed by Monday, May 12. The workshop itself is scheduled for May 15, a Thursday, and will run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the chambers of the Chandler City Council, located at 88 East Chicago Street.
Workshop organizers may want to work with brochure printers to create a mailer for Chandler residents telling them about the event.
