Chandler will get a taste of stories told by friends and neighbors when “Ordinary Folks, Extraordinary Tales” comes to the Chandler Center for the Arts this fall.
Running the gamut from comedic to perilous and dramatic, these stories offer the perspectives of everyday coworkers, friends and community members who live and work in Chandler.
Told under the soft glow of Downtown Chandler’s street lights in the evening, this free event also offers beverages for sale from local vendors.
Playwright and Chandler Center for the Arts’ Artist in Residence Ashli St. Armant is hosting the storytelling event. St. Armant is the creative mind behind the theatrical work “North: The Musical.” The writer, educator, creator and musical composer worked with community members in its creation.
“North” was made possible thanks to a collaboration with the Chandler Center for the Arts in which St. Armant engaged in educational and community engagement events with local students to create the theatrical work.
The community storytelling event coincides with the ongoing creation of St. Clair’s follow-up production, “Ordinary Folks,” as part of her new role as artist in residence.
Storytelling events like this may choose to use brochure printing to create audience programs and scripts.
“Ordinary Folks, Extraordinary Tales: A Storytelling Event” is happening on October 21 at 7 pm at the Chandler Center for the Arts at 250 N Arizona Ave in Chandler.
