Texting phenomenon results in Chandler store
Johnjay & Rich, on-air personalities who can be heard on 104.7, have opened a #LoveUp storefront in Chandler, where #LoveUp t-shirts, along with other products, will be for sale.
Money raised from these efforts will go to support the Johnjay & Rich Care for Kids Foundation.
The phenomenon started when a computer's auto correct function changed a friend's text to “love up” from “love it.” The text encouraged the two to remind people to spread the love by paying it forward. When Recon Apparel heard about the idea, it reached out to the broadcasters to help encourage them to grow the movement. Since June of 2015, people have bought about 9,000 t-shirts, raising $100,000 for the foundation.
The #LoveUp store is in Suite 104, 3400 North Arizona Avenue, in Chandler, and is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Shoppers are invited to browse in person, though they can still place orders online if they prefer.
The Johnjay & Rich Care for Kids Foundation is the force behind the Christmas Wish program, which helps kids in need by offering comfort, assistance, and hope to families and children. The program, which serves up a wish each weekday during the holiday season, can be heard during the Johnjay & Rich show.
