Popular musicians coming back to Chandler

A pianist and vocalist, who were a favorite at a recent summer concert, are returning to Chandler with a new group.

Pianist Danny Green and vocalist Leonard Patton will be bringing their group, LP and the Vinyl, to the Chandler Center for the Arts for a performance on the Mainstage. The group draws on three separate areas to create their repertoire. They perform their own original songs; they explore jazz standards in new ways; and they reimagine hits by artists such as David Bowie, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson.

They might take a popular song from one of the artists, and and filter it through a jazz lens, adding the improvisations and riffs popular in jazz to a song by Michael Jackson. The result is an entirely new sound that makes even favorite numbers sound fresh.

The group is praised for the way in which its members play with emotion and truth. The interplay among Julien Cantelm on drums, Justin Grinnell on bass, pianist Danny Green, who work together to back up the charismatic performances of vocalist Leonard Patton, has created something special. Since 2010, Cantelm, and Grinnell, and Green have been together, performing as the Danny Green Trio; Patton has released a number of albums as a solo artist.

LP and the Vinyl will appear April 24, at 7.30 pm. Brochure printing can provide attractive programs for concerts like this.
