New restaurant concept opens in Chandler

The Crossroads Restaurant Group, based in Oregon, has opened a new restaurant in Chandler, hoping to draw customers from throughout the Phoenix area to try its concept.

Hop Social Tavern is located near Chandler Fashion Center, on Chandler Boulevard, in the space formerly occupied by the Elephant Bar.

Crossroads is owned by Christie and David Burnett and Kathy and Bud Gabriel. The four teamed with Michael Rumpeltin, who is with Brick & West LLC of Phoenix, to design the new eatery.

Rumpeltin is the designer behind many of the Valley's most popular spots, including the Taco Guild and The Yard. At Hop Social Tavern, Rumpeltin has used reclaimed wood for the tables and floors, lighting made from old brass, and booths that are actually leather sofas, custom designed for the restaurant.

The restaurant's menu features locally-sourced, scratch-made American comfort food such as burgers, and pot pie. The bar is extensive, with 52 beers available on tap. The spacious restaurant has two patios in addition to its bar and dining room, and can seat approximately 400 patrons.

David Burnett revealed that he and his wife cashed in their 401(k)s to follow their dream of making the restaurant a reality.

Owners who operate establishments like this might consider giving promotional Drinkware to early patrons, both as a thank you and as a way to make others aware of a new restaurant.
