Floral-themed art displays open in Chandler

An art exhibit inspired by flowers often grown in gardens is now open at the Vision Gallery, located in Chandler.

The exhibit, which opened at the end of July, presents ceramics, photos, paintings, clay sculptures, textiles, and mixed media works. All the examples are connected in that they have themes inspired by flowers, plants, or nature. In total, 50 artists from Chandler and neighboring communities have put their works on display.

Works have titles like ‘Hollyhocks’, ‘Flower Box’, and ‘Agave Blossom’, and reflect the types of plants and flowers found in typical gardens. Vision Gallery's Yvonne Torres says the artworks bring visitors a sense of tranquility and peace, along with vibrant color, all qualities she believes are helpful during Arizona's blazing hot summer. She notes that gardens seem to have a “calming and cooling effect”, as well as bringing up memories of loved ones and the fun of times past. She gave an example from her own life, saying calla lilies reminded her of her grandmother.

The exhibit runs through August 30, and the gallery is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays, and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays. Admission to the show is free.

The gallery could work with brochure printers to produce a high-quality catalog of the exhibit, perhaps to offer for purchase.
