In order to celebrate a successful quarter-century of bringing music to the desert city, the Chandler Symphony Orchestra (CSO) has several special events planned during its current season.
Two members of the orchestra have written pieces: the “Chandler Festival Overture” is by Charles Liu, and “Marche Militaire” is by David McConaughey. They will be on the program later in the year.
Two other special events are also planned: one is the First Annual Star Wars Fan Fest, a family-friendly event focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) subjects. A scale model of the Antares rocket will be launched by Orbital ATK, and the orchestra will play music from the Star Wars films. Attendees are encouraged to wear Star Wars costumes.
Also, the Oakwood Golf Club will be the site of the Gala Silver Anniversary Celebration Dinner, in honor of the CSO's anniversary. Tickets for the dinner are $80, which includes the opportunity to sit with the musicians.
The Chandler Festival Overture will be performed at the November 12 concert, and the Marche Militaire will be played January 28, 2018. The Star Wars Fan Fest is scheduled for December 9, from 2:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Chandler's Downstage Stage, and the anniversary gala is February 17, 2018, at 5:00 pm.
Special events like these can be even more fun if organizers work with a booklet printing company to create a materials about the organization.
