TAFE NSW supports local film production

The TAFE NSW system is prepared to rise to the challenge of meeting the recent increasing demand for local skilled workers in the film industry, as New South Wales becomes a go-to destination for film production.

TAFE NSW has a long history of contributing to Australia’s reputation for producing high-quality film crews. With local demand for world-class crews now surging due to the combined effects of the global pandemic and direct investment in the sector by the New South Wales government, a spokesperson for TAFE NSW has indicated the institution is confident of being able to support the rapidly growing Australian film industry.

Lufti Hady, TAFE NSW’s Head Teacher of Film and Television, attributes the success of TAFE training in film production to its hands-on approach and industry-alignment, citing the number of TAFE NSW graduates who have gone on to illustrious careers. It is a perspective that is endorsed by award-winning cinematographer Mark Bliss, a graduate of the St. Leonards campus, who said:

“The practical skills I learned at TAFE NSW allowed me to go into the world of filmmaking confident in my skills and capabilities.”

Education institutions often use printing services to equip prospective students with information about relevant programmes.

Students interested in film production can study certificate and diploma courses in Screen and Media at a range of TAFE NSW campuses, including St. Leonards.
