The planning and funding model for the redevelopment of the Rosenthal Carpark has received the go ahead from Lane Cove Council.
According to Council, the project when completed will complement the adjacent Plaza.
Residents from St Leonards, New South Wales, and throughout the Lane Cove local government area have welcomed the project, which is set to provide 500 underground parking spaces with adjacent retail area of 5,400 square metres. Above ground, visitors will be able to enjoy 6,750 square metres of dedicated public open space.
Locals have been watching the progress of the redevelopment for over a year and some keenly contributed to a Design Ideas Competition staged in 2014 by Council where concept proposals submitted by four landscape design companies were the subject of community consultation.
As a result of the feedback, a number of participants’ ideas have now been incorporated into the overall design model.
Based in Lane Cove’s busy commercial district, the project is set to add to the shopping experience of visitors, according to a council spokesman.
Lane Cove Mayor Deborah Hutchens said the Rosenthal Project would create a vibrant hub in the town centre and the open public space was expected to be a feature on everything from Postcards and brochure promotions, to family photographs.
The project is expected to cost between $60m-$75m and construction has been earmarked to begin in January 2017.Get a Free Quote for Postcards
