A local literacy programme has attracted almost $500,000 in Federal Government funding.
Artarmon-based Chatty Kids, which helps young children in St. Leonards and throughout the North Sydney area to speak and read English through an innovative online literacy product, has been awarded the funding to help fast track its new service.
Trent Zimmerman, Member for North Sydney, and Minister for Industry Innovation and Science Greg Hunt recently met with Chatty Kids chief executive and founder Ken Taggart to officially congratulate him on the funding windfall and the programme he was introducing.
Zimmerman paid tribute to the initiative shown in the product’s development, saying it will engage kids online to speak and read English.
He said the system will be fully explained in promotional Flyers and Brochures that bear the Chatty Kids Logo Design, but in essence the programme allowed children to use any internet-connected device to access an eBook from a section of a graded library.
The child will then follow along as the text is read by a native English speaker on a video screen.
Zimmerman said Chatty Kids is keen to expand the product to include Chinese students and, in so doing, is providing employment for additional Australian teachers.
The near $500K investment in getting the programme up and running has been welcomed by Taggart, who is keen to help as many young children as possible with the new product.Get a Free Quote for Logo Design Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Brochures
