Rock County ready for 4-H Fair

One of the traditional highlights of summer is the county fair, and Rock County will be having its 4-H fair for six days at the end of July.

Local youth will be displaying their projects and animals, and there will be the usual carnival rides, games, and food.

Some of the daytime entertainment will include an inflatable jump pad the size of a basketball court, and 20-minute high-energy pig, duck, and goat races.

The Lumber Jack Show will be returning with red and blue teams of professional lumberjacks competing in events such as axe throwing, chainsaw racing, cross-cut saws, and water events. An interactive camp will allow guests to try their hand at these events with the support of the professionals.

New this year will be Cow Town USA, where everyone can milk real cows and make butter, soap, and ice cream.

Grandstand evening performances will include the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, Dylan Scott, Granger Smith, and Big League Bullriders. A monster truck show will be Sunday afternoon’s entertainment. Fans of these huge, destructive vehicles often go to the event’s website and purchase items featuring their favorite truck’s graphic design.

Daily admission will be $10, and $5 for kids from 7 to 12. Carnival and season passes are also available.

Rock County 4-H Fair will be July 25 through 30 at the Rock County Fairgrounds, 1301 Craig Avenue, Janesville.
