Janesville goes to arts festival

Those in Janesville who enjoy art will be attending the 67th Tallman Arts Festival coming for two days in early August.

This will be a juried event, and vendors will be selected on originality, quality of execution, consistency of focus, technique, and presentation. An award will go to Best of Show and other awards will include cash prizes, ribbons, and inclusion in future festivals. Guests can look forward to ceramics, drawings, photography, mixed and digital media, jewelry, wood, sculpture, glass, painting, and metal.

All applicants must be over 17 years of age and all work from the crafters and artists must be original. The Crafters’ Market will focus on skilled creation of practical items.

There will be food and beverages available for purchase, and local non-profit organizations will be on site promoting their community services and programs. Groups exhibiting at events like this often arrange banner printing to call attention to their booths.

The suggested admission fee is $5 and proceeds from the event will go to the maintenance and operations of the Rock County Historical Society and its campus. The festivities will be outdoors and will take place rain or shine.

The festival will take place on Saturday, August 2 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday, August 3 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Rock County Historical Society, 440 N. Jackson Street.
