Time to talk turkey in Woodinville

A fun annual event is returning to Woodinville.

The Annual Woodinville Turkey Trot is ready to go, promising a day of fun for people to work up an appetite for that big dinner.

The day starts with a Kids Parade, including the Woodinville High School Marching Band, then comes a Kids Dash, followed by the choice of a virtual 5K run, or an in -person 5K run/walk. The Kids Dash is for children under six, who will run for about 200 yards on a trail, and finish beneath an arch. The Kids Dash starts at 8.45 am and should finish at about 9.00 am.

After that, it’s time for the 5K Run/Walk starting at 9.00 am. The course is an out-and-back route on the Sammamish River Trail. Runners will be put in groups according to their running pace, and official time will start when they reach the timing mats, which are under the start/finish arch.

As it was last year, the virtual run is up to the individual. They can pick their route and then either walk or run a 3.1 mile distance and submit their time. This will benefit people who prefer to maintain social distancing.

The runs are scheduled for November 28 in Wilmot Park, with packet pick up on November 27 from 3.00 pm until 5.00 pm at 21 Acres. Organizers of events like this may ask a printer to use banner printing to create course markers.
