Hermanos Gutiérrez and Y La Bamba will appear soon at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Amphitheatre. Hermanos Gutiérrez (which is Spanish for Gutiérrez Brothers) is a Latin instrumental band formed by Ecuadorian-Swiss brothers Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez. They founded their group in Zürich in 2015 and began recording. They self-released their first four albums, but Easy Eye Sound, a US label, released El Bueno y el Malo (2022), their fifth album, and followed it up with 2024’s Sonido Cósmico.
The band’s sound is described as a mix of Western and Latin music, and a critic says:
“… their instrumental guitar music ... It's music that sings without needing a singer, that's lyrical without needing words."
Their companions are Y La Bamba, a band comprising first-generation Americans led by Luz Elena Mendoza. They sing in both Spanish and English, and the current lineup consists of Mendoza on vocals and guitar; Isabeau Waia'u Walker on percussion and vocals; drummer Antonio Montanez; and Julia Mendiolea on bass and guitar. Critics call their music:
“. . . global without sounding kitschy or like it’s lost its experimental edge.”
The concert is scheduled for September 27, beginning at 7.00 pm. The gates are set to open about 90 minutes before the start of the show. Events like this can benefit when organizers use poster printing to advertise them.
