Vancouver welcomes unusual wine tasting
Wine lovers have a chance to try something new—non-alcoholic wine.
The Barnard Griffin Winery is presenting a Non-Alcoholic Wine Master Class that is open to anyone who is taking part in Dry January, or is simply curious about these wines. When they plan classes like this, organizers may use flyer printing to create informative handouts.
The class has been inspired by the fact that, over the last ten years, there has been substantial growth of non-alcoholic spirits, beer, and wine in the worldwide drinks market. This increase has been driven by a trend toward lessening alcohol consumption in general. The tasting will give attendees a chance to sample some of these wines, which have been sourced from throughout the world. The discussion will offer insights into the challenges involved in processing wines of this type, and the processes used.
Pours of about one ounce each of five different wines will be served, and snacks will be available. The manager of Barnard Griffin’s Wine Club, Afton Kortz, will lead the class. Kortz has a Level 3 certification in Wine from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
The class is scheduled for January 23, from 6.00 pm until 7.30 pm, at the Barnard Griffin Winery, 665 West Columbia Way. The winery is part of the new Waterfront development. The fee is $35 for members of the public, and $30 for Barnard Griffin wine club members. Refunds are available up to seven days before the tasting.
