What's Happening in Vancouver, WA…

Vancouver welcomes walk in nature

Vancouver residents have a chance to enjoy the outdoors thanks to an event organized by the city.

The Wonderful Wetlands Nature Walk will take place at the Water Resources Education Center, which is an interesting facility worth a visit on its own. The center has information about water conservation and usage, and provides education and hands-on classes and events. The upcoming walk is such an opportunity.

The walk celebrates World Wetlands Day by taking people for a hike along the riparian edges of the waterways at the Water Center. The wetlands near the Center provide important habitats for many mammals and birds. World Wetlands Day was first celebrated in 1997, and was established to highlight the positive influence wetlands have had on communities around the world.

People joining the event will be walking approximately two miles in a variety of environments including muddy trails, sandy beaches paved surfaces, and uneven terrain, and they may borrow binoculars if they wish. Organizations planning events like this will often use flyer printing to create informational handouts for participants.

The Wonderful Wetlands Nature Walk is set for February 1, from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm. The Water Center is located at 4600 SE Columbia Way in Vancouver, and the walk is suitable for adults and children six years of age and older. Anyone interested should sign up soon, or add their name to the waitlist if the event is full.
