Cleanup scheduled in Vancouver

Residents of Vancouver will have a chance to be part of a community cleanup effort soon.

“Pick It Up, Vancouver!” is part of a series of cleanups held across the region, taking cities one at a time and bringing residents together to improve their surroundings. Working on a common project helps neighbors build connections, encourage pride in the city, and help downtown become a more beautiful place for those who work, live, and play here.

The site of the event is Esther Short Park, where volunteers will pick up litter in one of the city’s most iconic areas. Dandelion Teahouse is helping to host the cleanup, which is part of an effort by SOLVE, the backing organization.

The Vancouver event beings with a check-in, a safety briefing, and distribution of supplies including Vests, grabbers, gloves, and Bags. People who have appropriate tools should bring them, and everyone should dress for the weather and wear shoes with closed toes. They should also bring a backpack to keep their hands free, and a reusable water bottle.

Participants need not register in advance and people of all ages are welcome. Those taking part will meet near the clock tower in Esther Short Park, which is at 605 Esther Street in downtown Vancouver.

The “Pick It Up, Vancouver!” day is June 12, from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm. Events like this can attract participants when organizers use poster printing to create notices announcing them.
