An upcoming event will allow people to enjoy the outdoors.
Vancouver’s Water Resources Education Center is the organizer of the upcoming Wednesday Wanders event, a guided nature walk. Participants will gather at the Center and then walk through the ecosystems that can be found near the Columbia River, and the wetlands adjacent to them. During the walk, people will observe native plants, look for wildlife, and learn the importance of the local waterways to life in the region. Nature changes constantly, so there is always something new to discover on walks like this.
The walk is open to everyone except very young children. It is appropriate for families with children six and older, as well as adults who simply want to get outside and enjoy the day. The walk is for experienced hikers and newcomers as well.
Organizers note that the route is approximately two miles in length, and comprises unpaved wetlands, paved paths, and sandy beaches. The walk will be held rain or shine, and registration is required, although the event is free. If registration fills, a waitlist is available. The water center holds numerous educational events throughout the year.
The walk is set for February 25, from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm. The Center is located at 4500 SE Columbia Way. When they plan events like this, organizers could use flyer printing to create a handout for participants, showing the route and listing the wildlife that might be spotted during the event.
