Band comes to Vancouver for birthday celebration

A band will be on hand in Vancouver to help celebrate the birthdays of Tommy “Tutone” Heath and Pepsi Brian Morril.

The band in question is Baz Moto, a cover band whose high-energy performances have made them a favorite throughout the Pacific Northwest. They cover decades of rock hits and all genres, from the 1960s pop of the Beatles, to heavy metal (Metallica), to arena rock (Def Leppard, Kiss), and more. Bands whose names are familiar to everyone are on their cover list, and they often do deep dives into the material.

In this case, one of the tributes is to Tommy Heath, who was the rhythm guitarist, lead singer, and keyboardist for the band Tommy Tutone. The group is best known for the song “867-5309/Jenny,” which they released in 1981, and hit #4 on the Billboard Hot 100

The founders of Baz Moto are Bronwyn Bax and Blake Sakamoto, who are husband and wife. The duo, who are the lead vocalists, are noted for their powerful voices. Bronwyn plays flute, harmonica, keyboards, and hand percussion, while Blake is a keyboardist. They are backed up by bassist Annelise, drummer Camille Denny, and guitarist Brandon Navia.

Baz Moto will be at Billy Blues Bar & Grill on Friday, March 27. The venue is located at 7115 N.E. Hazel Dell Avenue. Shows like this benefit from the publicity they receive when organizers use poster printing to create advertisements.
