A global phenomenon that started as a pair of video role-playing games is about to take over Vancouver.
The Vancouver GoFest Celebration is a free event that will spread across the Waterfront and Downtown Vancouver for two days. It is a Pokémon-themed party involving local businesses and offering interactive activities. It is suitable for all members of the family.
Among the planned things to do is a Kids Zone, where they will find games and be able to do crafts, as well as a Vendor Marketplace, and a special Kids Market for little ones ages five and older. Experts will be doing free face painting all weekend as well.
Some of the highlights of the event include a Pokémon procession, and a chance for cosplayers to meet and compare their costume efforts. There will be live performances and game shows on the main stage, and 5,000 Festival Packs containing a sticker, pin, and passport will be distributed. Recipients can use their passports to take part in a Passport Adventure that will take place throughout Downtown Vancouver, and live entertainment includes an appearance by Team Rocket, the chief antagonists of the Pokémon universe.
The GoFest Celebration is global. In Vancouver, the event is set for July 11 and 12, from 9.00 am until 6.00 pm each day. This is the fourth year for this gathering, which drew over 10,000 participants last year. Using poster printing to create advertising, organizers of events like this can increase attendance.
