An upcoming dinner in Vancouver will honor one of history’s most popular poets.
The Northwest Wine & Food Society is organizing its annual Robert Burns Supper, celebrating the organization’s twenty-year history of connection, community, and culinary excellence.
The society supports connections in the winery and restaurant industry in Oregon and Washington. It provides educational opportunities and financial aid to students studying the various aspects of the food service industry. It also helps support locally owned restaurants. The Burns Dinner is one of its fundraising events, helping to support the next generation of chefs, winemakers, brewers, distillers, and grape cultivators.
The traditional dinner honors Scottish poet Robert Burns, whose best-known poems include “Auld Lang Syne” (1788), “My Heart’s in the Highlands” (1789), and “Address to a Haggis,” which he wrote in 1786. A toast to the haggis, a traditional Scottish dish, is part of the evening.
The fun also includes live music, a live auction, a silent auction, and a selection of outstanding wines, all to help support students turn their passion for delicious food and drink into a meaningful career.
The dinner will take place in the Indigo Hotel, which is in the new Columbia River Waterfront in downtown Vancouver. The meal this year will be prepared by El Gaucho, a steakhouse located in the hotel. Events like this can be enhanced when organizers use flyer printing to create attractive Menus for the evening.
