Winds and strings concert planned in Vancouver

A concert featuring the flute and the violin is coming to Vancouver.

Seha Jang and Dr. Sherrie Davis will perform “Sacred Winds & Timeless Strings,” blending their music into a timeless melody. Jang is a concert violinist, and Dr. Davis is an award-winning artist who plays the Native American flute.

Dr. Davis is a two-time winner of the Global Music Award; she composed the song “Wisdom of the Ancestors” that won the Bronze Award in 2019, and “The Journey Home,” her 2020 album, won the Outstanding Achievement Award. She also won in two categories of the 2020 Native American Style Flute Awards.

A multi-instrumentalist with Mayan/Aztec roots, she finds inspiration for her music in dreams of ancestors, using them to weave the acoustic guitar, drums, and Native American flute into a blend of both jazzy and serene notes. In December 2022, she received the Akademia Music Award in the Ambient/Instrumental Song category.

She was nominated as Artist of the Year in 2022, and nominated for the Hall of Fame in 2023. In 2023, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame for her work on “The Missing Ones,” where she was a vocalist and instrumentalist.

The concert is scheduled for Saturday, November 15 at the Vancouver Arts Hub, which is the former main library, located at 1007 East Mill Plain. The concert is suitable for all ages, and can be supported successfully when organizers work with poster printing methods to create colorful advertising.
