Vancouver ready to run for beer
In a twist on the “running to support a cause” theme, Vancouverites are encouraged to run for beer, although there is a cause behind it too.
The Oregon Brewery Running Series is the organizer of the upcoming 5K Beer Run at Trap Door Brewing in Vancouver. The course is a race of approximately 5K that begins and ends at the taproom, and that participants are welcome to run, jog, walk, or stroll. Once they have crossed the finish line, they are welcome to enjoy a craft brew.
Participants will receive, first and foremost, a free beer. They will also have a choice between an item of seasonal swag courtesy of the Brewery Running Series or a collector’s pint glass; a chance to win cool door prizes, including merchandise from the series or beers to take away; or access to giveaways, goodies, games, and other festivities associated with the event.
The aim of the race is for everyone to have fun as they give back to the community. Some of the proceeds will go to local non-profits such as Dollar For, The Oregon Food Bank, and Oregon Wild.
Participants are warned that the streets will not be closed, so they will be sharing the course with motorized vehicles and need to take appropriate care to ensure their safety.
The race is untimed and is scheduled for May 20, starting at 10:00 am. Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to create all-weather signs marking the course.
