Spring celebration comes to Vancouver
Spring is coming to the Pacific Northwest, and an event in Vancouver may be an opportunity to get outdoors, provided it can go ahead.
Columbia Springs is hosting a Forest Therapy Workshop, a guided event during which participants will enjoy the scent of cedars, the wind, and the feel of leaves underfoot. The hosts of the walk will lead attendees through a series of mindful, slow activities that will allow them to connect with nature in a way that encourages healing. The signs of the new season will be the focus of the workshop, and participants will come away with tools they can use at any time to help relax and rejuvenate.
The experience is an outdoor activity and will take place no matter what the weather. It will include a slow walk of about a half-mile, and mild activity. Columbia Springs is a nature center. Its trails wind for two miles through the area, and include two decks from which to view wildlife. There is also a pond for feeding fish, a Visitors Center that is ADA accessible, and artwork displayed along the Heron Loop Trail. The center is also the location of the Vancouver Trout Hatchery.
The class fee is $30, and participants are asked to pre-register. The Forest Therapy session is, at the time of writing, set for April 18, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Columbia Springs is at 12208 SE Evergreen Highway in Vancouver. Flyer printing can provide excellent handouts for events like this.
