Plans have been firmed up for a very special race in Vancouver.
The Girlfriends Run for a Cure is taking place for the 14th year, offering runners a choice of a 6K, 10K, or half-marathon. The event is meant especially for women to come together to enjoy themselves, do something for their health, and support a good cause at the same time.
Although the day is dedicated to raising money for an important cause, it is also designed to be a lot of fun and is centered on women. Warehouse 23 will have savory treats and chocolate goodies waiting at the finish line, and is serving brunch as well. Deschutes Brewery will have craft beers on hand, as well as mimosas. At the end of the race, finishers will be treated to acupuncture treatment, a stretching session, a chiropractic treatment, or a massage. The icing on the cake is a finisher's medal or necklace, which a Vancouver fireman will place around the participant's neck.
Proceeds from the event go to support the Pink Lemonade Project, and the Jaime Wyatt Miller Cancer Compassion Fund, both dedicated to supporting women with breast cancer, and finding a cure for the disease.
The race will start at 9:00 am on October 11, at Warehouse 23/Vancouver Waterfront Landing. Participants are asked to be at the starting line no later than 8:30 am, to make sure the runs begin on time. Banner printing can be used to provide markers for events like this.
