Holidays to kick off in style in Vancouver

An annual event that marks the start of the holidays is on the schedule in Vancouver.

As has been the case for years, Esther Short Park will be the place to go to take part in the Community Tree Lighting ceremony. The Rotary Club of Vancouver is the host for the event, which features food vendors and live music. Santa himself will handle the task of lighting the tree, which is decked out with over 12,000 lights.

Although the details of the upcoming event are still being finalized, in previous years, children's choirs have sung holiday favorites, and the COOLEY Show, featuring Cooley, a singer, pianist, and songwriter who has a 30-year career in the Pacific Northwest, was part of the fun.

Attendees in the past have also enjoyed carriage rides, a wide variety of food of all kinds from various vendors, and the antics of the Elves in the Park. There was even a visit from the beloved characters from “Frozen,” Elsa and Anna, as well as a holiday concert by the Vancouver Pops Orchestra.

The Community Tree Lighting is set to start at 4:00 pm on November 27, and through 6:00 pm approximately. The park is at Columbia and 6th Streets in downtown Vancouver. Banner printing can provide holiday decorations for outdoor events like this.
