Food and fun on Vancouver's radar
When the summer arrives in Vancouver, so do local festivals. An event that brings together wine and beer vendors, food, and live entertainment is coming up.
The Craft Beer & Wine Fest is celebrating 10 years. Participants include 60 craft brewers from the local area, 100 craft wines from local vineyards, craft cocktails, and live entertainment. The venue is Esther Short Park, where misting stations will keep attendees cool, and food vendors will be selling gyros, tacos, burgers, and more.
The music lineup includes the legacy bands Quiet Riot and Great White. Quiet Riot, a heavy metal outfit formed in 1973 in Los Angeles, are perhaps best known for the album “Metal Health,” which hit the No. 1 spot in 1983, and was certified six-times Platinum.
Great White, also a rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1977. They had their greatest successes with the 1987 album “Once Bitten,” and its follow-up, “…Twice Shy,” dropped in 1989. The former climbed to No. 23 and the latter to No. 9 on the charts, and both were certified Platinum.
The other bands scheduled to appear are Curtis Salgado, Johnny Wheels & The Swamp Donkeys, Hit Machine, and the Bottleneck Blues Band.
The three-day festival is scheduled for July 28 from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm; July 29 from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm; and July 30, from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to help identify participating vendors and performers.
