Workshop scheduled for animal food personnel

A workshop is set in Kennewick to help train individuals how to write a safety plan for animal foods, and keep it updated.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has established a standard curriculum that will qualify individuals to oversee the sale and manufacture of animal foods. Learning to write a food safety plan is a prerequisite for those who hope to become FDA inspectors. It is likely the class will comprise both feed manufacturers and regulators. Participants who successfully complete the course will be given a certificate from the Food Safety Preventative Controls Alliance.

Graduates of the workshop will have the skills to write a Preventive Controls Animal Food Safety Plan, confirm preventative controls, review current records for effectiveness and implementation, review any actions taken to make corrections, and have the ability to reanalyze the food safety plan as necessary.

The IFISH, AAFCO, And FSPCA will issue a certificate of training to successful participants, as will IFPTI, which proves the graduate was trained using a curriculum approved by the FDA. Organizers and instructors of events like this can use brochure printing to develop materials necessary for the course.

The two-day session will be held in person over March 30 and 31, beginning at 8.00 am on the first day, at the Tri-City Development Council in Kennewick. A continental breakfast will be provided each day, as will soda, coffee, and lunch.
