Popular Mexican nortea band comes to Kennewick

One of the most successful proponents of Mexican regional music is coming to Kennewick very soon.

Los Tigres del Norte, which in English means The Tigers of the North, was founded in Mocorito, Sinaloa, in a small town called Rosa Morada. As of 2007, they had sold approximately 32 million albums, making them one of the most prominent bands performing regional Mexican music. By 2015, the band had won six Latin Grammys and seven Grammys, the only Mexican group to have done so. They had also earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition to music, the group has appeared in about 40 films with Fernando and Mario Almada, as well as other famous Mexican actors.

The group’s style, which is based on Mexico’s reginal music, uses instruments such as bass, accordion, electric or double bass, drums, and at times other percussion instruments. Their song lyrics move between romance and politics. The band has become famous in Texas and California and is currently based in San Jose. A review of a live show says:

“From the moment the Tigres del Norte started playing to the last song was an absolute masterpiece.”

Los Tigres del Norte will be at the Toyota Center in Kennewick on Saturday, April 4. Events like this benefit when organizers use poster printing to support them.
