Professional conference scheduled in Kennewick

An upcoming event in Kennewick will bring municipal clerks together to discuss workplace issues.

The conference is the 2026 WMCA Annual Conference Spring Academy & Athenian Dialogue. The motto is “Wisdom Begins in Wonder.”

The first day is split between the Athenian Dialogue and the Advanced Academy. There are two sessions of each, and the content and speaker are the same. The Academy’s topic is “Discover the Power of Presence” presented by Joann Tilton, and the Athenian Dialogue features a discussion of the book “Dust Bowl Girls” led by Kathy Linnemeyer. At the end of the day, attendees will have an opportunity to attend a Meet and Greet.

The conference kicks off on the second day with breakfast, opening remarks, and a chance to chat with exhibitors. James Robilotta will give the keynote address on the subject “Choosing to Care: How curiosity creates community and balance in the workplace.”

The bulk of the conference will comprise classes including “New Clerks, Certifications & Clerk-dom Demystified,” and “Artificial Intelligence for Beginners.” Attendees can earn professional credits for the event, 3 MMC “Professional Contributions” or 3 CMC “Experience” credits are available.

The Washington Municipal Clerks Association (WMCA) was founded in 1969 and promotes educational and professional standards for municipal clerks throughout the state.

The event will take place March 17 through March 20 at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick. When they create events like this, organizers can use flyer printing to create an agenda for attendees.
