Kennewick gets fired up for the Fourth

A popular way to celebrate the country’s birthday will return to Kennewick in 2026.

The magically named River of Fire takes its title because the fireworks celebrating the 4th of July are fired from a barge anchored in the Columbia River, near Kennewick’s Columbia Park. The day will be full of fun including live entertainment and a variety of food trucks, as well as family-friendly activities.

Food trucks confirmed so far this year are sure to be favorites of people who love “fair food.” They are Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, Kettle Corn Factory, Boboblastic, Churros Mia, Taco City, Kona Ice, Deez Donuts, Rollin’ Ice Cream, and Dog Haus.

A special Kid Zone will offer games, train rides, face painting, and bounce houses, and live performers will appear on two stages. Austin Miller; RCA & The Radicals, a funk band based in Spokane; and Back Roads, a country-rock band founded in 2012, will perform on the Bandshell Stage; Estilo Diferente, Los Hermanos Marias, and Origen will be on the River Stage.

The River of Fire is free and runs from 2.00 pm until 10.00 pm on July 4. Festival organizers can add to the fun by using banner printing to create festive decorations that stand up to weather. Parking, which is also free, is available in several locations near the park, but vehicles will not be allowed into the park after 9.00 pm.
