Kennewick and the Tri-Cities area have been celebrating the 4th of July in a special way for more than three decades, and the celebration returns this year.
The River of Fire Festival literally lights up the Columbia River with fireworks. People who want to enjoy the free event are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs to Columbia Park and find a spot from which to watch the entertainment.
Among the other activities is a Kids Zone. Children stepping into their own world will find games, face painters, obstacle courses, and several bounce houses that will ensure they have a fun experience.
Adults can enjoy craft beers in the Beer Garden, which will be open from 4:00 pm until 9:30 pm. When people get peckish, Food Truck Alley will offer a variety of vendors with their specialties for everyone to enjoy.
Live entertainment is part of the fun. Rancho Unido will be playing, as will Shanks Pony.
The day concludes with the fireworks display, which begins at 10.00 pm. The fireworks will be launched from a barge in the middle of the Columbia River, lighting it up and giving the celebration its name.
The River of Fire Festival is July 4, from 2.00 pm until 10.30 pm. Starting at noon, parking is free. Organizers of events like this often use poster printing to create advertisements for the festival.
