A stand-up comedian that Billboard says is one of the highest-grossing comics working today is coming to Kennewick with his Koy Meets World tour.
Jo Koy is the son of John C. Herbert and Josie Harrison. Herbert, an American, was stationed in Japan when he met Harrison, who is Filipina, and Koy often draws on his mixed heritage for subject matter. His relatable style, which pokes fun at both cultures, allows him to connect with audiences everywhere, and he continues to sell out prestigious venues throughout the world.
Koy signed a Netflix deal in 2023, in which he agreed to do specials for them. He released the first, “Jo Koy: Live from Brooklyn” in 2024. It turned out to be the sixth most-watched program that year. Other specials include “Live from the Los Angeles Forum,” “Live from Seattle,” and “Comin’ in Hot.”
Koy appeared in the 2022 film “Easter Sunday,” produced by Amblin, Steven Spielberg’s company, which was inspired by his cultural background. A year later, he played the role of the Daytime Bartender in the “Haunted Mansion” film that starred Owen Wilson and Danny DeVito; and provided the voices for characters such as Benbo in “The Monkey King” and Coach Kimura in “Leo,” both released in 2023.
Jo Koy will be at the Toyota Center in Kennewick on November 6. When they plan events like this, organizers can use poster printing to create supporting advertising.
