Intocable, which translates as “untouchable,” is a band from Zapata, Texas and Mexico City. The outfit was founded early in the 1990s by friends René Orlando Martínez and Ricardo Javier Muñoz, who mixed the Norteño and Tejano (Tex-Mex) genres with pop to create a sound unlike any other group. Their style has made Intocable arguably Tejano music’s most influential band, and their style has been emulated by many other Tex-Mex outfits.
The current Modus Operandi Tour is in support of “Texican,” their latest album, and kicks off in Portland, Oregon, with Kennewick as the second stop. The new tour follows the Momentos Tour that took place in 2021, and the 2019 Percepción Tour. They regularly sell out arenas, which is an accomplishment for a Norteño band, as these groups usually play much smaller venues.
“Texican” is Intocable’s 23rd album. Their album “Percepción,” which they released in 2018, won a Latin Grammy for Best Norteño Album, and climbed to the No. 2 spot on Billboard’s Regional Mexican chart. A review says:
“. . . the group captivated its fans during a special performance . . . Others have tried to imitate their Norteno music but have failed because Intocable is without doubt unmatchable.”
Intocable will be at the Toyota Center in Kennewick on June 3 at 8:00 pm. Poster printing is a great method organizers of events like this can use to create colorful advertising.
