Latin pop vocalist to appear in Kennewick
A singer who has been performing successfully for 40 years is coming to Kennewick.
The first song Ana Gabriel ever sang was “Regalo A Dios” by Alfred Jiménez, which she performed when she was six. The event sparked her love of performing, and her parents, who had surrounded her with music, supported her when she decided to move from Sinaloa to Tijuana. There she pursued a dual career path, studying both accounting and singing.
When she was 21, she made her first recording, “Compréndeme,” and then competed in several festivals, including the OTI Festival in Portugal. She released a single, “Ay Amor,” which topped the charts in Mexico, and remained on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart for 14 weeks.
In 1988, she dropped her debut album “Tierra de Nadie,” and has since gone on to enjoy a prolific recording career. As of 2020, she has released four live albums, 19 complications, and 21 studio albums, and has been nominated for both the Latin Grammy and the Grammy. She has won 13 Lo Nuestro Awards from 29 nominations, and is one of the best-loved artists performing Latin music today.
