Foreigner got together in 1976 in New York City. The founding members were Mick Jones, Ian McDonald, Ed Gagliardi, Al Greenwood, Dennis Elliott, and Lou Gramm. Jones was the one who came up with the name of the band since he, McDonald, and Elliott were British, while Gagliardi, Greenwood, and Gramm were American. This mix meant that whenever they appeared in either the U.S. or the U.K., half the band would be foreigners.
They released their first album, “Foreigner,” in 1977, which was the first of six albums, released consecutively, that earned multi-platinum status from the RIAA, as well as making it onto the Top 10 charts in the United States. Their second album, “Double Vision” (1978), included two more huge hits, the title song, and “Hot Blooded.” Their 1982 album “Records,” a catalog of their greatest hits, was rated 7x platinum by the RIAA. Two top ten singles came from this album, “Cold as Ice,” and “Feels Like the First Time.”
Despite lineup changes, Foreigner is still going strong. A review says:
“If anyone ever wanted a crash course in classic rock, this was the ultimate show to attend. The songs were iconic, the bands legendary, and the evening nothing short of superb.”
Foreigner will be at Toyota Center Tri-Cities in Kennewick on October 16. When events like this are planned, organizers will often contact printers, who can use poster printing to create advertising for the concerts.
