One of the most successful comedians in the world will soon appear in Kennewick.
Gabriel Iglesias was born in San Diego and grew up in Long Beach, and was working for a phone company in Los Angeles in 1997 when he took the risk and went into comedy full time. He wound up losing his apartment and his car, but persisted, and today is one of the world’s highest-earning comedians.
Iglesias is an actor and producer as well as a comedian. He has appeared in stand-up specials on Netflix and Comedy Central, including “I’m Not Fat . . . I’m Fluffy,” and the following show, “Hot & Fluffy.” He often makes his weight part of his routine, explaining there are six fatness levels: “Big,” “Healthy,” “Husky,” “Fluffy,” “DAMN!!!” and “Oh hell, no.” A review of Iglesias live says:
“Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias had a great set. Funny and insightful. Nice to hear a comedy act that was clean and had the audience cheering for more.”
As an actor, he has appeared in Mr. Iglesias, a Netflix sitcom, played Tobias in the 2012 film “Magic Mike,” and also featured in its sequel. He voiced the character of Speedy Gonzales in “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” and hosted the television programs “Stand Up Revolution” on Comedy Central, along with Fuse’s “Fluffy’s Food Adventures.”
Iglesias will be at the Toyota Center in Kennewick on November 5. Organizers of events like this have poster printing available to help them advertise the production.
