A week of fun is on the calendar in Kennewick.
The first Benton Franklin Fair took place in 1948 and has become a major summer event in the Tri-Cities. It grew out of the Grape Festival celebration that began in 1911 in Downtown Kennewick. That celebration came to a close in 1947, but rather than let the tradition die, community members got together to form the Benton Fair Association. Over time, the fair returned and grew into the major festival it is today.
The Benton Fair is a fun event that is suitable for the entire family. Rodeo performances, fair food, games, rides, commercial vendors, and livestock are all part of the event. Live entertainment is also planned, with some big names on the schedule. Performers include La Original Banda El Limón, the Goo Goo Dolls, Josh Turner, Craig Morgan, and one of the most iconic of all bands, The Beach Boys.
Synonymous with the summer, the Beach Boys put hit after hit on the charts. Their impact goes beyond their catchy California tunes like “Good Vibrations” and “California Girls,” with their influence apparent on countless acts that have come after them.
The 2024 fair will take place August 20 to 24, at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Kennewick. When they plan events like this, organizers will often work with poster printing companies to develop attractive, fun advertising.
