Comedian/actor/woodworker to appear in Bellingham

A man whose resume includes everything from woodworking to writing to acting is coming to Bellingham.

Nick Offerman was born in Joliet, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BFA. In 1993, he and other students founded the Defiant Theatre. No one in his family was in the arts, so his career choice was a surprise.

He worked with various companies in Chicago’s lively theater scene, including Steppenwolf, where he was both master carpenter and fight choreographer. He began to land small film roles and got his major break when he was cast as Ron Swanson in “Parks and Recreation,” a regular role that he played from 2009 until 2020. He has appeared in more than 60 films including “Sin City” and “21 Jump Street” as well as providing voice work for movies such as “Ice Age: Collision Course.”

In addition to his work on stage, film, and television, he has put six Books on the New York Times Bestseller list, including “Paddle Your Own Canoe.” His most recent effort is “Little Woodchucks: Offerman Woodshop’s Guide to Tools and Tomfoolery,” a guide to woodworking for children of all ages.

Offerman Woodshop is in East Los Angeles and focuses on creating hand-crafted products using traditional methods, and sustainably made with fallen trees from Los Angeles, Oregon, and California.

Nick Offerman will bring his down-to-earth humor to Mt. Baker Theater in Bellingham on February 14. Events like this benefit when organizers advertise them using poster printing.
