A power couple is on the way to Bellingham to entertain audiences with Celtic music.
Natalie MacMaster married Donnell Leahy in 2000, combining two musical families. MacMaster, a fiddler from Nova Scotia, plays music from Cape Breton, and toured with stars including Alison Krauss, Carlos Sanana, Faith Hill, and the Chieftains, and recorded with Yo-Yo Ma.
Leahy is a member of the eight-piece group Leahy, once known as The Leahy Family, where he plays the fiddle. The group plays folk music and has toured internationally and throughout Canada.
Leahy and MacMaster have seven children who are all gifted musically, and in addition to raising a family, they operate a farm, and have a farmers market operating in Ontario. In spite of these obligations, the duo performs an average of 75 shows annually throughout North America.
MacMaster has received numerous awards including three Gold albums, 19 East Coast Music Awards, and two JUNO Awards, and in 2006, she was inducted into the Order of Canada. Her stage presence and outstanding playing match perfectly with Leahy’s leadership and energy, which in turn led to the band Leahy winning three JUNO Awards, double-platinum standing, and more.
Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy with the Celtic All-Stars will be at the Mt. Baker Theatre on March 14. Events like this benefit from the publicity provided by organizers using poster printing to create advertisements.
