Inna Faliks will appear with the Bellingham Symphony for a performance featuring works by Brahms and Chopin. Faliks has been appearing with the orchestra during its At Home with the BSO series, which enables people to enjoy music without having to be at the concert hall, but the upcoming event will be in person.
The musical program comprises Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Symphony No. 4 by Johannes Brahms. The latter movement is featured on the soundtrack of the film “The Truman Show,” which came out in 1998.
Charles Rosen, a scholar of music, said of Chopin:
". . . [his] poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation.”
Brahms’ work premiered in 1885 in Meiningen, Germany, with the composer himself on the podium. Musicologist Donald Francis Tovey said the work was:
“one of the greatest orchestral works since Beethoven . . .”
Beethoven’s influence can be heard several times throughout the work.
Faliks served as Artistic Director of Classical Music for YoungArts LA in 2019, and has a “Corona Fridays,” concert series. Her piano work ranges from the standard to the experimental.
The concert is set for March 6 at 3:00 pm. When events like this are scheduled, organizers can use brochure printing to create informative programs for audiences.
