Bellingham volunteers to look after salmon habitat

A Bellingham activity will give volunteers an opportunity to get their hands dirty and enjoy the satisfaction that comes with being involved in environmental stewardship.

For three hours, a group of intrepid helpers will be giving the salmon habitat at the community’s Maritime Heritage Park some care, and their efforts may help to keep those fish healthy and happy for the next generation. It will be an activity open to all abilities and ages, although anyone who is age 14 or under will need to have an adult participating along with them.

The helpers will be assigned gloves and tools before they head out to tackle their job, and instructions will be provided as well. Everyone is reminded to dress for the task at hand, and masks are mandatory. The organizers requested that everyone who Signs up shows up, as the number of spaces available is limited due to Covid restrictions and other circumstances.

Offering the public an opportunity to get involved in a project like this is one of the ways an organization can create new stakeholders. A printer will be able to offer a selection of Promotional Products to distribute to these helpers to thank them for their support.

This joint effort of the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association and the City of Bellingham will run from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm on November 20th. Questions about the function can be directed to pkvolunteers@cob.org.
