E-retail giant Amazon is expanding its footprint on the Eastside, as the construction of its new Bellevue 600 office building is currently underway. This is the first phase of the project.
The building will be 43 stories high and have 14,000 square feet of retail space with a potential daycare center, 121,000 square feet of amenities, and 885,000 square feet of office space. It will also have 1,175 parking stalls in an underground parking garage. The property will also include a public plaza surrounded by another building four stories high and covering 16,000 square feet. When completed, it will be the tallest building in the city. Amazon is also planning to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification as part of its sustainability efforts with this new building.
The second phase will include a new 27-story office tower to replace the Bellevue Corporate Plaza building, which is currently on the west side of the lot. It will have 8,000 square feet of exhibition and retail space on the ground floor, and 554,000 square feet of office space. Banner printing is often found at such sites announcing the construction of new buildings.
Both offices will be within walking distance of the new Bellevue Downtown Station, which is part of the expansion of Sound Transit to the Eastside and is expected to open in 2023. The first phase of the project is set to be occupied beginning in 2024.
