Bellevue appoints director of parks department

Meredith Petit will be the director of Bellevue Parks and Community Services.

New appointments often call for business card printing services.

Prior to this position, she was the director of Parks and Recreation of Corvallis, Oregon for six years. She also spent 10 years serving in roles of increasing responsibility for the city of El Segundo, California, where she was also the director of Parks and Recreation. She has additional experience supporting recreation functions and community services for the city of Agoura Hills, California for another 10 years.

Diane Carlson, city manager of Bellevue, said that the experience Petit has had in the many roles in parks and recreation public service is ideal for the Parks and Community Services department of the city. Carlson added that she has worked on capital projects, community services, sustainability, and engagement which make her the perfect person to lead a community service oriented and diverse department.

Petit said:



“I’ve remained committed to advancing equity in both capital project delivery and recreation programming, and to fostering collaborative, community-centered approaches to public service.”




Petit attended Northern Arizona University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management. She then went on to California Lutheran University where she earned a master’s degree in policy and administration.

Petit started her new position on Monday June 1.
