Bellevue to develop more affordable housing

Bellwether Housing has been selected by the City of Bellevue to develop community space and affordable housing in the Wilburton Transit-Oriented Development District.

This will help to advance the vision of the city for a lively and mixed-use neighborhood that is near the light rail. The development will have at least 127 affordable homes, including units sized for families that will be geared towards households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the median income in the area.

The ground floor will feature a youth services organization based in Bellevue, in addition to transit-oriented design features that will create a more livable and connected neighborhood, as well as one that is environmentally sustainable. Such developments can turn to brochure printing to provide more details on their features and amenities.

Bellwether Housing was selected from 10 proposals as the company is strongly aligned with the sustainability and housing goals of the city. Bellevue has a goal to preserve or create at least 5,700 affordable housing units over the next 10 years.

Director of the Office of Housing for Bellevue, Bianca Siegl, said that this project is an important step in creating a complete community that will strengthen the social fabric of the neighborhood and provide more opportunities for housing for lower income families in the city.

This project is expected to be completed by 2030.
