Arboy Day to boost Bellevues greenery

The city of Bellevue will be celebrating Arbor Day later this month by planting trees and other plants native to the region. This event will be held at Lewis Creek on Lakemont Boulevard SE.

Among the trees that can be planted that day are Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Sitka Spruce. The panting of these trees will help to restore the habitat at the park. Noxious weeds that degrade healthy forests can also be removed by those who volunteer for the event.

Poster printing can be used to create vibrant and eye-catching displays that inspire and motivate residents to actively participate in sustainable community events.

One goal of the Sustainable Bellevue plan is to expand and preserve the tree canopy of the city. Each year the city has offered hundreds of trees at no cost to residents. Last year, the City Council adopted a new code for trees to update protection and tree preservation provisions.

Although Arbor Day is technically celebrated in April, cities and states often celebrate the day when the weather is best for planting trees in their regions. Bellevue moved the celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day together in 2022 so that tree planting events will take place in the fall.

This Arbor Day event will be from 8:45 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, October 18.
